#Mindcancy: flow

I help organisations become future-fit. #Mindcandy scenario prompts are designed to stretch your imagination, sharpen situational awareness, and spark opportunity thinking.

Today’s scenario prompt: from friction to flow

Ever since I read “The Rise of Superman, and “Stealing fire“I’ve been obsessed with flow – and what a company “flow score” might look like. When people are in flow, productivity, creativity and learning go through the roof. Now look at your organisation: how much time is lost to clunky systems, pointless approvals, broken processes and dead dashboards? That’s digital friction. The opposite of flow.

Computer games are engineered flow engines: clear goals, instant feedback, rising challenge, deep immersion. Every CEO should be playing Xbox or PS5 – not for fun, but to understand what real engagement feels like. That’s the benchmark for customer and employee experience.

And there there is AI and flow. AI can strip out friction, personalise work, pre-empt blockers and design “always-on” challenge ladders. Used well, it can turn your operating system into a flow system.

The CEO question

Where is the hidden friction in your customer and employee journeys – and if you had to score your organisation’s (digital) flow from 1 to 10 today, what would the number be and what would it take to double it?

US engineers design AI bionic hand that grips with human-like precision

Engineers at the University of Utah have given a bionic hand a mind of its own. By equipping a commercial prosthetic with pressure and proximity sensors and training an AI neural network on natural grasping movements, the team created a hand that grips more intuitively and securely.
