Leaning into disruption for future innovation

I had the pleasure of speaking at the #skillnetirelenand conference this week. “Leaning Into Disruption for Future Innovation” as the topic. I was hugely impressed.

Best of breed

I was there when Skillnet was borne in 1999. Twenty five years later we have a best of breed training programme (number 1 in the world) of 80 networks and clusters helping industry and more important SMEs in their skill development, innovation and getting ready for AI and climate change. If SMEs are the core of the economy (and they are), we should now aim for doubling the number of clusters and networks and make the Irish economy more future fit.

The keynote in very short

Technology abstraction will level all technology playing fields. Culture is the last battle ground. Instead of focussing on innovation, focus on future fitness. It starts with situational awareness and collective responsibility.

Story telling, guiding principles, and a transformative purpose will increase the clock speed and is the talent magnet you will need.

Combine that with a scenario prompts, failure fund, citizen development and ancient wisdom and you will be ready to take on an exciting future.
