What happens when the board is not AI-literate?
It governs through second-hand understanding. It cannot challenge inflated claims, detect hidden dependencies, question algorithmic decisions or recognise when the business model itself is becoming obsolete.
Management controls the narrative. Vendors control the language. Consultants control the agenda. The board is left approving investments it does not understand, risks it cannot see and strategies built on assumptions it is unable to test.
The same applies to technology, regulation and emerging trends. A board that cannot understand the future cannot govern it.
