I have been doing the mind-candy for the last month. Lots of technology trends at a speed that is unprecedented. Mind-blowing even. But it is the soft stuff that is going to make the impact.
Technology
I don’t have to tell you that these rapid technological developments are going to impact your business model. Cyber security, IoT, blockchain, biomimicry, 3D printing, AR/VR, material science, data, AI, etc.
Work
Even more fascinating is how the world of work is shifting and impacting all my clients; the big resignation, the war for talent, the attitude of millennials and younger generations, labour shortage in general, self-awareness, health, hybrid working, digital transformation, citizen development, etc. All of this is linked to ESG, circularity, purpose, organisation structures and ultimately leadership.
It is the soft stuff
Technology is the great leveller. The differentiation will be in your people, culture, authenticity, clock speed, adaptability, and client retention. All soft metrics. With maybe NPS as a metric you can use to measure client satisfaction. Building companies that have a positive impact on their staff, clients, stakeholder, community and the environment, Preferably at a restorative level.
Am I surplus to requirement?
It makes you scratch your head. If you follow some simple principles (the golden rule as one of them), you don’t need mind-candy, consultants, advisors or read lots of books. Create a platform of purpose, let your people follow their hearts and pursue their passion, become obsessed with CX, and you will become as fluid and resilient as you ever need to be.
Change muscles
Although, perception pioneering might help you to get there. It all starts with collective awareness and the ability to anticipate. Developing the company change muscle (
you can buy the book here).
From books
The commercial above summarises the books I read over the last month. Exponential, marketing and sales, leadership, society, strategy, organisational health, cybersecurity, and managing change. Here the links to the blogs:
And there is the mind candy.
The good news
The good news is that the perception pioneering and mind candy are capturing the imagination. Some of my clients suggest a mind-candy or perception pioneering learning circles, and Liana (the love of my life) suggests a
retreat. Me and four days in the sun. If you are interested in the learning circle or the retreat,
drop me a line.
